I have two juvenile cardisoma armatum, both with very distinct yellow eyes.
My earlier armatum had grey.
Today I saw a armatum at a petstore with absolutly black eyes.

What gives this variations? locality?
maybe there are hybrids of cardisoma armatum and other cardisoma species.
my cardisoma armatum has yellow eyes with a grey center
Yes, mine are also grey in the center, but the yellow is very yellow.
My last one was grey with darker center, but the one I saw today was absolutly black.

Do you know any site or person who´s got real facts about them? When I search about them in the internet I find so much different information.
Here in Sweden no one knows anything about crabs at all.
Ask ygra here in the forum, i think she knows best.
I had Pseudosesarma with all kinds of eye colors, black, blackish-grey, grey and also white. This seems to be normal.
Younger specimens often have green (or, that lies in the eye of the beholder, yellow) or yellowish eyes. It seems to me that they get the black eyes when they become older. Some specimens have gray eye corneas, this kind of variation is normal. Also Cardisoma armatum and C. guanhumi are blue, white and orange when young but when they grow older they loose much of the orange and get more dull blueish allover.
could it be that eyecolor variies from genetic orgigin to origin like human eyecolors?
